Herstmonceux Cricket Club v The Brewer's Arms

This match took place on Sunday 15th July and although you may not believe it, the weather was really good - a hot sunny day just perfect for watching cricket on the village green whilst enjoying some liquid refreshments courtesy of the cricket club's paying bar. Sadly, no-one seems to know why exactly, but the bar b que promised, did not happen! This is something that will be rectified at next year's event..... Talking of next year, the event will take place on Sunday, 10th July 2008, 2pm on the Village Recreation Ground. Perhaps next year the cricket club will put out a team that gives The Brewer's a sporting chance...! This year the cricket club had to prove that they were capable of winning at least one match and got 297 runs for 8 wickets whilst The Brewer's Arms were all out for 175! Still, a good time was had by all. If you are interested in playing for The Brewer's team next year, please let us know.

Herstmonceux Bowls Club v The Brewer's Arms

Now I know you won't believe me, but this was held on another beautifully sunny day (see the summer hasn't been that bad after all!) Sadly, and as usual we lost the bowls but did manage to win (only just though) the darts! Thank you to everyone who took part, especially to the Brewer's Arms team and the Bowls Club for once again organising the annual fixture.

However, on another occasion when the Bowls Club hosted a Village 'Triples' competition, we did win! Village businesses were invited to send a team of 3 people to play each other on a knock out basis, including playing against Herstmonceux Bowls Club and as you can see The Brewers Arms team, (David Page, Ian Hanks [landlord] and Ken Cook) won!
