1st Annual Flower and Craft Show

Landlady Julie Hanks (left) with winner Amanda Silvester

This event took place on Sunday 12th August and although it's getting boring now, it was another perfect summer's day! We are very pleased that the sun shone because it contributed to a large number of visitors coming through the gate, but as the whole event was undercover it wouldn't have mattered too much. For our first event we are thrilled to report that we had 157 exhibits although next year we are sure it will be bigger and better with the flower show being held on Sunday, 10th August in marquees in our car park. On the evening of Saturday 9th August 2008 we will hold a special event, exact details yet to be decided, as we missed the opportunity to do it this year. Put the date in your diary. This year's overall winner was Mrs Amanda Silvester. Contributions from the school were disappointing, to say the least even though we involved them in designing posters and gave them seeds to grow sunflowers for the event. Let's hope the new head teacher will show a bit more enthusiasm for supporting events that the school may well benefit from financially in the end.

St Patrick's Day

Our St Patrick’s Day celebrations went extremely well, with lots of support. You managed to drink loads of Guinness, and eat your way through two huge containers of Irish Stew! Next year St Patrick‘s Day falls on a Monday and we hope that you will all give it the same support as we enjoyed this year!

St Patrick‘s Day was closely followed by Mothering Sunday and once again, we were fully booked. Thank you to everyone for your support. We devised a menu that we hoped would appeal to everyone but especially to the Mums. Thankfully everyone seemed to enjoy the food and I certainly enjoyed cooking it. A very satisfying but tiring weekend!
