The Brewers Arms
Gardner Street
Herstmonceux
East Sussex BN27 4LB

We are exceptionally proud and pleased to announce that we have gained an award called “Only the Best” given by Wealden District Council. This award is given to those businesses that have achieved excellence in food safety and customer care. On a recent visit, Environment Health were “very impressed with the standards of customer care, staff training and food safety“, and said our “attention to detail was excellent”. We will soon be adding another logo to our letterhead and certificate to our wall!

The Brewers Arms is a charming, village pub with origins in the 16th century that has been refurbished in the last few years, inside and out, to a very high standard.
My husband and I are the licensees, (we took over on 31 March 2005) and were proud to be one of six finalists in the 'Newcomer of the Year' category in the 2006 National Publican Awards.![]()
We are Greene King tenants and have a good selection of their real ales available to us all the time.
Greene King IPA is our 'main stay' real ale and we usually are able to offer a 'seasonal' real ale plus a 'guest' real ale. Past real ales have included Moorland Original Bitter 4% abv, St Austell's Tribute 4.2% abv and Woods Bomber County 4.8% abv (to name just a few).
On our wine list we offer a selection of wines from the Old World (France, Spain, Italy and the rest of Europe), they cover a vast range of styles, with traditional regional wines not being immediately appealing. New World wines (New Zealand, Australia USA, Chile, Argentina, South Africa etc) are up-front fruity and easy to drink - 'Sunshine in a bottle', with the ripeness of the fruit appealing to the less experienced wine drinker. We aim to continue to offer a good choice of quality wines at value for money prices. All wines, except Champagne can be bought by the glass or bottle.
Having now just about completed two full years at The Brewer’s Arms we feel things have settled into a predictably unpredictable pattern! We have decided therefore to formalise our opening/closing times to Spring/Summer times and Autumn/Winter times.
| Our all year round opening times are as follows:- | ||
| Lunchtimes | Evenings | |
| Monday to Saturday: | 12 noon - 2.30 pm | 6.00 - 11.00 pm |
| Sunday: | 12 noon - 3.00 pm | 6.00 - 10.30 pm |
| Public Holidays: | 12 noon - 3.00 pm | 6.00 - 11.00 pm |
Since we started our charity work The Brewers Arms Charity Society has donated in excess of £6,000 to 'local good causes and charities'.
We feel very proud of our efforts and would like to thank everyone for supporting our various charity events like quizzes, darts tournaments, flower show, summer ball etc to name but a few.
